Her Story
Enough is enough! After 16 years of working for various organizations that told how to provide occupational therapy based on budget restrictions and insurance reimbursement limits, she decided to step out of the norm and provide therapy based on what the client's needs are. Sabine provides occupational therapy based on the client's goals and needs, making the therapeutic relationship 50% more successful. After all, if she wrote goals that were not client-centered, her clients would never be motivated to work on those goals. She's worked with clients as young as 10 months old with parents wanting their infant to learn how to sit up and play with a toy, roll over or feed themselves and as old as 95 years old with a client who had forgotten how to sit on a toilet due to dementia. In both cases, Sabine was able to work with the client and their families to reach individual and family goals.
Sabine graduated from SJSU in 2000 with her B.S. in Occupational Therapy and her M.S. OT in 2005. and has since worked in the field as a pediatric OT for the first 13 years of her career. She worked in private clinics, County Offices of Education, local school districts and private schools. She's worked for Adult Day Health Centers, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Hospitals and Home Health Agencies in between summer and school breaks. Finally, Sabine has recently spent time lecturing at San Jose State University (her alma mater both for her undergrad and master's in OT degrees) and running their pediatric community clinic.
Sabine speaks 4 languages, a native of Cebu, Philippines. She has lived in Northern California since 1996. She enjoys hiking around the hills of the East Bay Parks and spends her weekends with her friends and children's sports activities.
